Police Liaison

We have close links with the members of the Queen’s Park Safer Neighbourhoods Team under the excellent leadership of Sergeant Graeme Day.  The Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a dedicated unit, working solely in this community to help people feel safer in their own neighbourhoods.  They work closely with the ward panel and local agencies to find lasting solutions to concerns identified by the community.

The Safer Neighbourhoods Team’s  priorities for the Queen’s Park Ward are set by the ward panel.  They currently are:

  • motor vehicle crime
  • burglaries (west of Chamberlayne Road)
  • theft of pedal cycles and riding on footway

We now hold surgeries every third weekend, the next one is the weekend of 10th and 11th April on 10th we hold surgery 11am – 12pm Sainsbury, Salusbury Rd & 1pm – 2pm Tesco station Terrace. On 11th 11am -1pm Farmers market, Salusbury Rd. 11am – 12pm Gracelands cafe, College Rd. 1pm – 2pm cafe, Queens Park.

Neighbourhood Watch scheme

The team are keen to establish a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in every street in the ward.  Summerfield Avenue is the first to be set up, Carlisle Road should be next.  To make a start contact Indi on the Team either on the phone numbers above or by e-mail Inderjit.Johal@met.police.uk. Two co-ordinators per street work with Indi to gather residents’ e-mails so that any relevant messages from the police can be quickly spread (for example if there are a number of burglaries or car break-ins on a particular street).

Message from Indi:

I would like to invite everyone who has shown interest in setting up a neighbourhood watch to a meeting at KILBURN POLICE STATION, 38 SALUSBURY ROAD, NW6 6TL ON WEDNESDAY 14TH APRIL 2010 AT 7PM. We will be discussing how to set up a neighbourhood watch scheme on your street. Also we will be giving you a welcome pack to take away and application forms. So I look forward to seeing you there. Please let me know if you are able to attend or send a deputy so I can arrange refreshments.
